The Great Gatsby review

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 8 January 2007 04:53 (A review of The Great Gatsby)

This is a fantastic movie. It's not as good as the book, of course. I really liked how the director juxtaposed the relationships between Gatsby and Daisy and between Myrtle and Tom, but he added a good bit of content that I don't think needs to be there - after all, isn't this the Great American Novel?

Jezebel review

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 7 January 2007 10:52 (A review of Jezebel)

A great old New Orleans movie. The lead character is quite similar to Scarlet O'Hara, though this one really lives up to the name Jezebel.

For Your Consideration review

It was okay, but nowhere near as good as A Mighty Wind or Best in Show. Definitely my least favorite Christopher Guest movie.

Franny and Zooey review

Posted : 17 years, 3 months ago on 7 January 2007 10:00 (A review of Franny and Zooey)

Not as good as I expected, and definitely not as good as Catcher in the Rye. I rather enjoyed it though, especially the Franny section.

funnier on the big screen

Posted : 17 years, 9 months ago on 18 July 2006 01:51 (A review of Duck Soup)

I saw Duck Soup at the Virginia Theatre in Champaign, IL. I'd seen it before - in fact, I own the DVD, but for some reason, it's infinitely funnier on the big screen. Maybe it's because the physical comedy is more obvious when it's bigger, or maybe it's the community atmosphere of a public theatre, but whatever it is, next time it's screened, I'll be the first person in line to see it.
